Most Nursery Wall Decals Hide Cheap Plastic. Here’s What to Look For Instead.

You read every label. The sunscreen, the wash, the sleep sack, the mattress. So here’s a fair question almost nobody asks about the one thing that hangs right over the cot: what is that wall decal actually made of?
For a lot of the cheap ones, the honest answer is PVC vinyl — the same shiny plastic that can carry that “new plastic” smell when you open the packet. It’s mass-printed, often imported, and chosen because it’s cheap to make.
What to look for instead
You don’t need a chemistry degree — just three things:
1. PVC-free. Tiny Walls decals are non-toxic and PVC-free — soft fabric, not plastic vinyl.
2. Water-based adhesive. A gentle, water-based stick (not harsh solvent glue), so you can reposition as you place.
3. Made where you can see it. Ours are designed and printed in our own Melbourne studio — not a mystery factory offshore.
“No plastic feel, no gloss.”
“The quality of the products and art work is excellent.”
“Beautiful native decals for our nursery. They look amazing and the quality is excellent.”

What are they made of?
A soft, matte woven fabric — non-toxic and PVC-free — printed with water-based inks in our Melbourne studio.
Do they smell like plastic?
No. There’s no shiny vinyl, so none of that “new plastic” off-gas you get with cheap stickers.
Where are they made?
Designed and printed in-house in Victoria, Australia.
Are they easy to remove later?
Yes — a gentle heat-release method lets them peel off clean. (We always recommend following the removal guide.)
