Nursery decor · what's it actually made of?
Most nursery wall decals hide cheap plastic. Here's what to look for instead.
You read the label on everything else in the nursery. Here's the one thing almost nobody checks, and how to get it right.

You read every label in this house. The sunscreen, the wash, the sleep sack, the mattress. So here's a fair question almost nobody asks about the one thing that hangs right over the cot. What is that wall decal actually made of?
For a lot of the cheap ones, the honest answer is PVC vinyl. The same shiny plastic that carries that new plastic smell when you open the packet. It's mass printed, often imported, and chosen because it's cheap to make. I didn't want that anywhere near my own kids, so I set out to make something different.
"You check the label on everything else in the nursery. The wall deserves the same."
The three things worth checking
"What is it actually made of?"
Ours are a soft, matte woven fabric. Not shiny plastic vinyl. It feels closer to paper or linen than a sticker, and it sits flat and matte on the wall like it was painted there.
"Will it smell like plastic over the cot?"
No. There's no vinyl.
"Is it gentle on the wall, and can I move it?"
Yes. A gentle adhesive lets you lift and reposition the pieces as you place them, so there's no pressure to get it perfect first go. When you're ready for a change, a gentle heat release method takes them down.
Soft and matte, so it looks painted on rather than stuck on. No gloss, no plastic feel.
You can reposition as you place.
Ours are designed and printed in our own Melbourne studio, not a mystery factory offshore.

What comes in every order
A step by step installation guide and a small test sample so you can feel the fabric and try it on your own wall before you commit to the full design. And if you change your mind, we have a 30 day return policy on decals.
How to remove them the right way
The whole secret is just two things: heat to soften the adhesive, and peeling in a downward motion.
- Warm the decal with a hair dryer on low for 20 to 30 seconds to soften the adhesive.
- Start at a corner and peel slowly, pulling the decal down and flat against the wall, never straight out towards you.
- That downward angle is the whole secret. It keeps the paint where it belongs.
- Go extra gently on older or freshly painted walls, and warm any stubborn spots again.
Follow these steps for the best possible result. Honesty over hype, always. That's how we do things here.
