How Much Wallpaper Do I Need?
If you've ever stood in front of a wall with a tape measure wondering how many rolls to buy — and whether you'll be short by half a metre — this guide is for you. Two measurements, one simple rule, and you're done.
The short answer
You don't count rolls. You measure your wall, add 10cm to the width and 10cm to the height, then pick the two matching options on any design. We cut and number the panels to fit your wall.

How to measure your wall
All you need is a tape measure and two numbers, in centimetres.
Width, at the widest point
Run the tape along the wall from corner to corner. Don't subtract windows or doors — measure straight across as though they aren't there. You'll hang the panels over the opening and trim away the excess.
Height, at the tallest point
Measure floor to ceiling in two or three spots. Ceilings are rarely perfectly level, so use the tallest number. A standard Australian ceiling is around 240cm, but measure rather than assume.
Add 10cm to both
The golden rule: add 10cm to your width and 10cm to your height before you order. That allowance covers wonky floors, out-of-level ceilings and trimming. Spare material trims away — short material doesn't stretch.
Choosing your size
Once you've added your 10cm, round each measurement up to the next option. The tables below already include the 10cm allowance, so you can read your raw wall measurement straight off them.

Panels come in four drop lengths. Doing half-wall panelling? The 120cm drop is made for it.
Worked example
Your wall measures 280cm wide × 235cm tall.
Add 10cm to each → 290 × 245.
Round up → order 300cm width (5 panels) and the 250cm drop.
The extra trims away with a sharp blade once the panels are up.
How the panels work
Each panel is printed 62cm wide — that's 60cm of pattern plus a 2cm overlap edge. The overlap tucks under the next panel so the join disappears and the pattern flows on without you having to match it yourself.
- Hang your first panel. Start at one side of the wall. The 2cm overlap edge sits on the leading side, waiting for the next panel.
- Overlap the next panel. Lay panel two over that 2cm strip, line up the pattern, smooth it down. The join vanishes.
- Trim to fit. Panels cut cleanly with a sharp blade and a straight edge — trim the height, work around windows and skirting, finish the edges exactly where you want them.
Panels arrive pre-cut and numbered. Hang them in order, left to right. There's no pattern-repeat maths and no guesswork.
Will it stick to my wall?

Perfect for
- Smooth painted walls — clean, dry, smooth interior walls in good condition.
- Smooth plaster & plasterboard — sealed and painted, with a smooth finish.
- Flat doors & wardrobe panels — smooth, flat furniture faces indoors.
- Renters — applied in panels, trimmed to fit, with a removal guide for when it's time for a change.
Not suited to
- Textured or rendered walls — bumpy render and heavily textured finishes stop the adhesive gripping.
- Raw brick or concrete — porous, dusty surfaces need sealing and smoothing first.
- Flaking or chalky paint — if the paint is coming off, the wallpaper will come with it.
- Damp or outdoor areas — designed for dry, interior spaces only.

Buying standard rolls instead? Here's the maths
If you're pricing wallpaper sold by the roll — most Australian retailers use a 10m × 53cm roll — this is how you work out what you need. Worth understanding even if you buy from us, because it shows what you're avoiding.
- Drops per roll. Roll length ÷ wall height. A 10m roll on a 2.4m wall gives 4 drops (10 ÷ 2.4 = 4.1, round down — a partial drop is useless).
- Drops you need. Wall width ÷ roll width. A 3m wall ÷ 0.53m = 5.7, round up to 6 drops.
- Rolls required. 6 ÷ 4 = 1.5, round up to 2 rolls.
- Add for pattern repeat. The step that catches people out. Each drop has to align to the last, and the offcut is wasted. On a large repeat you can lose most of a drop every time — most retailers advise adding 10–15%, or a whole extra roll.
So a single 3m × 2.4m nursery wall is realistically 2–3 rolls, and you won't know which until it's on the wall. That uncertainty is the reason we stopped selling by the roll.
Before you order the whole wall
Order a 30 × 30cm sample first. You'll see the colour in your own light, test how it sits on your particular wall surface, and check the finish before committing. It's the cheapest insurance on a decorating decision there is.
Common questions
Why do I add 10cm if I'm only going to trim it off?
Because almost no wall is perfectly square. The allowance absorbs sloping floors, out-of-level ceilings and skirting, and gives you room to position each panel. Spare trims away; short doesn't stretch.
Do I measure around windows and doors?
No. Measure straight across the full wall as if the opening isn't there, hang the panel over it, then cut to shape. Subtracting openings is the most common way people end up short.
What if my wall is wider than 600cm?

What about a raked or angled ceiling?
Measure to the highest point, add your 10cm, and trim down the angle as you install.
Can I do two walls in one order?
Order each wall separately so the panels are cut and numbered per wall. Two 3m orders hang far more easily than one 6m order split across a corner.
How long does it take to hang?
A standard feature wall takes most people two to three hours on a first attempt, working alone.
What is it actually made of?
A premium woven polyester fabric with a self-adhesive backing. No paste, no water, no trades. It has a soft matte textile finish rather than a shiny vinyl one, and it repositions while you're hanging it.
Will it come off when I move out?
