How do they come off, and will it affect my paint?
It depends on your paint. Our fabric decals are easiest on fresh, clean, non-chalky paint over a proper primer, and come off with gentle heat: warm with a hairdryer and peel slowly, low to the wall. Old, chalky or poorly bonded paint can lift with any adhesive product. That's why every order includes a free test piece — try it on the same wall first. Not for textured walls, raw plaster or chalky surfaces. Renting? Read our renter FAQ.
Wall decal or wall sticker: what's the difference?
Mostly the material. Most wall stickers are shiny vinyl, often printed from a photo of someone else's art. Ours start as watercolours painted by our in-house artist, then we print them on thick matte fabric in Melbourne. No sheen, no white border, no plastic look, so the art reads as paint. Customers tell us their family asks who painted it.
Wall decals or wallpaper for a kids' room?
Decals if you want a feature without covering the whole wall: a tree beside the cot, animals above the bed, an arch behind a reading nook. They go up in an afternoon, and you can add pieces as they grow. Wallpaper if you want pattern edge to edge. We make both, on the same matte fabric. See our wallpaper.
Is the buy any 2 offer on every decal?
It's on our Best Sellers. Buy any 2 best sellers and the lowest-priced one is free at checkout, automatically. Buy 4 and 2 are free. Offer terms
What if I make a mistake putting it up?
Lift the piece and move it while you're installing — the adhesive lets you reposition during the first placement. If it's been up a while, warm it with a hairdryer first. Step-by-step instructions come with every order, and it's genuinely a no-tools job: clean the wall, peel, place, smooth from the centre out.
What surfaces do wall decals stick to?
Smooth, clean, painted interior walls — ideally primer plus two coats of good acrylic. Not textured walls, brick, render, flaky or chalky paint, humid rooms, or paint less than 4 weeks old. Put them up within 3 months of buying.
How fast do you ship?
Most orders leave our Melbourne studio within 48 hours (up to 5 business days during sales). Free standard shipping on orders $150+, Australia-wide.
Nursery Wall Decals
Nursery wall decals that look painted on
Our nursery wall decals are hand-painted by our in-house artist, then printed on matte polyester fabric in Melbourne. Once they're on the wall they look like they've been painted there. There's no painter to book, no wet paint drying in the room and no mural to wait on. A feature wall is usually a one-to-two-hour job for one person, so the nursery can be finished well before the baby arrives.
Why parents choose Tiny Walls for the nursery
Original artwork, not clip-art. Every design is drawn and painted in-house, so your nursery won't look like everyone else's.
Calm, not cartoon. Soft sage, sand, blush and rust palettes, gum leaves, gentle animals and florals. They're designed to suit a baby's room now and still suit the room when it becomes a big-kid room.
Less than repainting. A painter's quote for one Australian bedroom typically runs A$500–900. A full nursery set costs less than that, and when your child's taste changes you swap the decals instead of repainting.
Nursery wall decal ideas
One calm feature wall. A gum tree branch with birds, an acacia tree with baby safari animals or a woodland oak tree gives the room one focal point without paint.
A scattered pattern that grows with them. Mini daisies, spots, hearts or clouds from our spots & dots and floral ranges make a wallpaper-look wall. You can add to it or thin it out as the room changes.
Structure with an arch or half wall. Frame the cot area with an arch decal, or use scallop trims and half-wall panels for a two-tone look without a paintbrush.
Neutral, girls' and boys' palettes. Sage, beige and rust suit a gender-neutral nursery. The girls' room range has blush florals, butterflies and rainbows, and the boys' room range has whales, planes and tractors.
Where to put decals in a nursery
- Above the change table. Something for your baby to look at while they're being changed.
- Behind the feeding chair. It's the wall you'll look at most at 3am, and it looks great in photos.
- Around the cot, not directly above it. Keep pieces out of reach from the cot, and run your hand over the edges every so often.

Why they look painted on
Every design is painted by our in-house artist, then printed on a matte polyester fabric rather than shiny vinyl, so there's no sticker sheen, no white border and no plastic look. Everything is designed and printed in Melbourne, more than 30,000 Australian families have decorated with Tiny Walls since 2019. Most rooms are finished in an afternoon with no painter, no fumes and no mural to wait on.
Good to know before you stick
Our decals work best on smooth, clean, painted interior walls, ideally a primer plus two coats of acrylic. If the room has just been painted, give it four weeks to cure first. They're not suited to textured walls, flaky or chalky paint, or steamy rooms, and they go up best within three months of arriving. Every decal order includes a free test piece, so try it on the same wall before you commit. When it's time for a change, warm each piece with a hairdryer and peel slowly; how cleanly it comes away depends on your paint, so read the install guide and removal guide first.
