Gifted collab
Nursery, start to finishAshley0:50 · 351 views

Opens on a text hook over the empty nursery, then goes straight into the install. She talks to camera — you don't have to, but notice how the first three seconds do all the work.

Short spoken intro holding one decal, then the wall. Plain blank wall behind her, natural light, nothing staged.

The playbook

What we're actually looking for

One video of the decals going up. There's no script, no shot list you have to follow, and no talking to camera unless you want to. Everything below is a guide, not a brief — take what's useful and ignore the rest.

Angles worth getting

Every clip below is real footage from a creator in this programme. That is literally the shot — film your own version of it. You won't use all six; three or four gives you plenty to cut from.

1

The blank wall, first

Three seconds of the wall before you touch it, shot from where you'd stand in the doorway. The before is what makes the after land, and it's the shot everyone forgets.

2

Hold it up, check the position

Hold the piece against the wall and move it around before you commit. It shows people the decision, not just the result — and it's the bit that makes the whole thing feel doable.

3

Get in close on your hands

Phone right up near the wall, your hands in frame. This is the shot that shows what the fabric actually looks like against the paint — matte, no shine, the painted detail visible.

4

Smoothing it down

Palm flat, working out from the middle. Slow reads far better than fast here, and it's the most reassuring few seconds in the whole video.

5

A time-lapse of the whole thing

Prop your phone on a shelf and let it run for the whole install, then speed it up to five or eight seconds. This one is 34 seconds of real time at 4x. It's the most-watched part of almost every install video.

6

The finished room, wide

Finish on the full wall with the room around it — cot, shelves, a chair, whatever's there. Daylight, blinds open, lights off.

Hook ideas, by who you're talking to

The first line does most of the work. These are things our customers have actually said — borrow one that sounds like you, or write your own.

Expecting or brand new parents

The deadline is the hook. Most of them are counting weeks.

  • Nursery still empty at 32 weeks?
  • No painter. No mural. No fumes in the room.
  • I had three weeks left and nothing on the walls.
  • He's already named the koalas.
Parents of toddlers and big kids

Here it's the transformation, or the birthday.

  • From bland to magical, in an afternoon.
  • Birthday's Saturday. The room was done Friday night.
  • I put what he's obsessed with on the wall.
  • The room grows up with him. No repaint.
Anyone who thinks it'll look cheap

Our best-performing ad this year is exactly this structure — your own doubt, then the reversal.

  • I thought ‘removable’ meant cheap. I was wrong.
  • Everyone assumes we painted it.
  • My husband thought I'd painted it.
  • These are fabric, not stickers. You can tell.
People weighing up the cost

Compare us to a painter or a mural, never to another decal brand.

  • A painter quoted us $900 for one room.
  • I was going to paint a mural. I'm pregnant. I did this instead.
  • Three days of painting, or one afternoon.
Renters

Ask the question and show what you did. Never promise anything about how they come off — we don't say it, so you can't either.

  • What do I even do with a rental nursery?
  • I'm not allowed to paint. So I did this instead.
  • Renting with a baby and jealous of everyone else's nursery.

The short version

Do

  • Shoot vertical, 9:16, and fill the frame. Almost all of it gets watched on a phone.
  • Film in daylight with the blinds open and the lights off. Overhead lights make the fabric look shiny, which it isn't.
  • Keep the whole thing between 15 and 30 seconds. Shorter beats longer nearly every time.
  • Keep filming while you step back to look at it. Unplanned reactions beat anything you plan.
  • If you want a voiceover, record it afterwards in a quiet room. Far easier than talking while your hands are full.
  • Leave the fiddly bits in. A bubble you smooth out is more convincing than a clean take.
  • Say ‘hand-painted fabric wall decals’ once, out loud or in the caption, so people know what they're looking at.
  • Add captions. Most people watch on mute.

Please don't

  • Don't make any claim about damage, bond, or how they come off the wall. We don't say it, so please don't say it for us — it's the one thing that gets us in real trouble.
  • Don't use the words non-toxic or rental-friendly.
  • Don't mention a discount code or a sale unless we've told you one is running.
  • Don't film a sleeping baby in the cot with soft toys, pillows, loungers or blankets. The ACCC fines baby brands for this. Awake and supervised is fine, and an empty styled nursery is both safest and usually the better shot.
  • Don't name another brand, even to compare.
  • Don't over-produce it. Hard cuts to a trending sound beat fancy transitions.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a big following to apply?

No. This programme is built for creators under about 10K followers. We care about your space, your style and whether your audience overlaps with ours — not your follower count.

What exactly do I have to post?

One video of you putting the decals up, on Instagram or TikTok, within 15 days of delivery. Tag @tinywalls.au, add us as a Collaborator, and switch on the Paid Partnership label. That's the whole deal — there's nothing else to send us.

Do I have to talk to camera?

Not at all. Plenty of the best install videos have no voice in them — just the install, a trending sound and captions. If you'd rather talk, record a voiceover afterwards in a quiet room. Both work.

How long should the video be?

15 to 30 seconds is the sweet spot. We'd much rather have 15 good seconds than 60 padded ones.

What if the video doesn't turn out?

Send it anyway. We'd rather see a real attempt than nothing, and a wobbly honest install reads better than a polished one. If something went wrong with the decals themselves, message us before you post and we'll sort it out.

Is there any cash payment?

Not for this programme — the decals are the deal, up to $200 retail, yours to keep. The only paid tier is our invite-only whitelist partnership. If your post performs strongly we may reach out to license it and run it as a paid ad through your handle ($300–$1,500 depending on your following). Never assumed, always opt-in.

Can I pick anything from your range?

Almost everything. You'll see decals, wall panels, scallops and trims — pick whatever fits your space, up to your $200 credit. Wallpaper isn't part of this programme.

What about getting them off the wall later?

We don't make promises about removal, because what happens depends entirely on your wall. What we can tell you: our decals are fabric with a water-based adhesive, and they behave best on fresh, clean, non-chalky paint, applied within three months of delivery. Do a test piece somewhere out of sight and leave it 48 hours before you commit to the whole wall.

Can you use my video as a paid ad?

Only with a separate paid agreement. If your post performs really well we'll invite you into a whitelist partnership — we license the post and run it as a Meta ad through your handle, and pay you a licensing fee. Always opt-in, always paid, never assumed.

Do you ship internationally?

For now the programme is open to creators based in Australia and New Zealand only.

Any rules about filming babies?

Yes, and this one matters. The ACCC actively fines baby brands for content showing unsafe sleep environments. If you're filming a nursery: no sleeping baby in the cot with soft toys, pillows, loungers or blankets. Awake and supervised babies are fine. An empty, styled nursery is the safest option and honestly tends to be the better-performing shot anyway.
