About the design
A hand-painted fabric wall decal set of a russet hen and her three little yellow chicks, some facing left and some facing right as they potter about the farmyard. Our in-house artist painted them in watercolour, and we print them on matte fabric in Melbourne, so on the wall they look painted on.
Which size? Pick by how much wall you want the family to fill:
- Medium, hen 23cm wide × 27cm tall, chicks 10cm wide × 12cm tall: hung in a line the family covers about 52cm of wall, sweet above a chest of drawers, bookshelf or desk, or in a reading nook.
- Large, hen 30cm wide × 36cm tall, chicks 13cm wide × 16cm tall: hung in a line the family covers about 68cm of wall, bolder for a wider stretch of wall, or to join our other farm animals for a whole farmyard.
Facing left or right? Facing left, the hen looks left: one chick runs on ahead, one turns to look up at her and one follows behind. Facing right is the same family mirrored. Choose the direction so the hen faces into the room.
Four pieces: one hen and three chicks, no joins. Space them out however you like. All sizes are width × height, measured from the cut line.

Walls, paint & removal
- Best on smooth, clean interior walls with fresh, well-primed paint
- Just painted? Wait around 30 days for the paint to cure first
- Not for textured, flaky, chalky or unprimed walls, brick, render, outdoors or steamy rooms
- Put them up within 3 months of buying. Decals are best fresh, not stored
- Taking them down: warm with a hair dryer, then peel slowly, down along the wall
- How removal goes depends on your paint. Try the test piece first
A note on your paint: Wash & Wear and other low-VOC paints, and walls painted without a separate primer, carry a higher risk of paint chipping. All paint wears with age. The test piece in your order shows you how your wall behaves. It's a guide, not a guarantee.

Is this the same as the cheaper ones online?
No. Every Tiny Walls design starts as a watercolour painted by our in-house artist, and we print it ourselves on thick matte fabric in Melbourne. Copies are usually glossy vinyl printed from a photo of our art, shipped from overseas. If you find one of our designs much cheaper on a marketplace, it isn't ours.
Will it fit my wall?
Check the size above and the “How big is it?” photo in the gallery, which shows it to scale on a real wall. Between sizes? Size up: decals read smaller on a wall than you expect.
