How much Wallpaper do I need?

The short answer: measure your wall width and height in centimetres. Each Tiny Walls panel covers approximately 60cm of wall width (with a 2cm overlap built in), so divide your wall width by 60 and round up to get your panel count. Then order by wall size on the product page, and add one extra panel to cover pattern matching, trimming and any mistakes.

Step 1: Measure your wall (you only need two numbers)

1. Width: measure the total width of the wall in centimetres.
2. Height: measure your wall height in centimetres. Standard Australian ceiling height is 2.4m (240cm); if your ceilings are higher, you simply select a taller panel drop when ordering.

That is genuinely all the measuring required. Our wallpaper is not sold in rolls, so there are no roll calculations, coverage tables or pattern repeat allowances to worry about.

Step 2: The 60cm panel calculation

Tiny Walls wallpaper arrives as pre-cut, numbered panels. Each panel covers approximately 60cm of wall width, with a 2cm overlap that sits under the following panel so the joins stay seamless and the pattern matches automatically.

1. Divide your wall width by 60 and round up to the nearest whole number. Example: a 2.9m (290cm) wall needs 290 ÷ 60 = 4.8, so 5 panels.
2. Choose your drop height. Panels come in drops from 80cm (perfect for half walls) up to 320cm. If your wall height falls between two sizes, always select the larger size and trim to fit.
3. Add one extra panel. We always recommend ordering at least one spare panel to account for pattern matching, trimming, and any mistakes.

In practice you will not even need to do the division: on every wallpaper product page you simply choose your wall width and wall height from the menus (widths from 120cm to 600cm, drops from 80cm to 320cm) and we supply the right panels for that wall.

For $8 you can test the colour, texture, and adhesion on your actual wall before committing to a full order. Colours on screens are never quite true, and adhesion depends on your paint, so this small step removes almost all of the risk.

Frequently asked questions

How much wallpaper do I need for a 3m x 2.4m wall?

300 ÷ 60 = 5 panels. Order the 300cm x 240cm size ($526 at time of writing) and your 5 pre-cut, numbered panels cover the wall, with a 2cm overlap on each join for seamless pattern matching. Add a spare panel if you want a safety margin for trimming and pattern matching.

What if my wall is between two sizes?

Always select the larger size and trim to fit. Excess is trimmed at the ceiling, skirting board, and around power points with a sharp craft knife and a metal straight edge during installation.

What if my ceiling is higher than standard?

We offer panels in multiple drop heights up to 320cm. At checkout, select the panel height that matches your wall; if it falls between sizes, choose the larger and trim.

Does peel and stick wallpaper work on textured walls?

No. Peel and stick wallpaper needs a smooth, flat surface. On textured walls the adhesive only contacts the raised points of the texture, so the wallpaper will likely peel and the result will look uneven.

What about recently painted walls?

Paint must be at least 30 days old, and ideally cured for 4 to 6 weeks. Paint that feels dry to the touch may still be chemically curing, and applying wallpaper to fresh paint is the leading cause of paint lifting on removal.

How long does installation take?

Most people complete a standard feature wall (approximately 3 to 4m wide, 2.4m high) in 1.5 to 2 hours. The panels arrive pre-cut and numbered, so there is no measuring or cutting required beyond trimming the edges.
