Will it damage my walls or affect my rental bond?

Our decals use a non-permanent, water-based adhesive that removes cleanly without leaving residue, on walls that are smooth, fully cured, and painted with two coats of quality acrylic paint over a primed surface. That's why we include a free test sample with every order. Apply it to your actual wall, wait 24–48 hours, then peel it off and check the result. If the sample removes cleanly, your decals will too. We always recommend testing first, especially in rental properties. Not suitable for textured walls, raw plaster, or surfaces with chalky, powdery, or flaking paint.

Will it look like a cheap sticker or like real art on the wall?

Nothing like a sticker. Every design starts as an original hand-painted watercolour illustration — not clip art, not a digital graphic. We print on premium matte fabric with no white borders, so the animals and botanicals blend directly into your wall colour the way a painted mural would. The matte finish means no shine, no plastic sheen, no "I bought this online" look. Most people who see them in person assume they were painted by an artist.

How do I know what size to get?

Use your room size as the guide. As a general rule: the Accent or Small pack works well for a corner, or in a room under 3×3m where you want a few statement pieces. The Medium or Feature Wall pack is designed to fill a full feature wall in a standard kids bedroom or nursery, it creates a complete, cohesive scene rather than a few scattered animals. If you're unsure, go bigger. Decals that fill the wall always photograph better and feel more intentional than a few small pieces on a large wall. Every product listing includes exact dimensions for each piece in the set.

What if I make a mistake during installation?

You have more room for error than you think. Because our decals are printed on fabric rather than rigid vinyl, they're repositionable during installation — you can lift and reposition them before they fully bond to the wall. If you've placed something crooked or in the wrong spot, warm the decal gently with a hairdryer on low heat and peel it back slowly. Start again. For large pieces like gum trees, we recommend having a second person hold while you smooth — this makes alignment much easier.

Do they work on textured walls?

Our decals perform best on smooth, fully cured interior walls — sanded, primed, and finished with two coats of quality acrylic paint. They are not suitable for textured or orange peel surfaces, render, brick, raw plaster, or walls with chalky, powdery, or flaking paint. If you're unsure about your wall, use the free test sample included with your order before applying the full set. The sample will tell you everything you need to know about how your specific wall will respond.

Can I reuse them if I move?

Our decals are designed to be removed cleanly, but they are not guaranteed for multiple applications. Removal depends on how carefully you peel them (slowly, with gentle heat from a hairdryer) and the condition of the new surface you apply them to. Some customers successfully reuse them; others find the adhesive has reduced after the first application. If reusability is important to you, remove them as carefully as possible and store them flat on their original backing sheet.

What if my toddler picks at them?

The matte fabric material is more peel-resistant than standard vinyl stickers because there's no hard raised edge for little fingers to catch. The edges blend flush into the wall rather than sitting proud of it. That said, no wall decal is completely toddler-proof — if your child is determined, they'll find a way. Placing decals higher on the wall, out of easy reach, is the most effective solution. Many of our customers position the animals at adult eye height so they read beautifully from across the room anyway.

Do the colours look the same in real life as they do on screen?

Very close. The matte fabric finish means there's no shine or gloss to distort the colour the way a vinyl or laminated product would. What you see on screen is a faithful representation of the watercolour illustration — the same soft tones, the same gentle washes. The nature of hand-painted watercolour means there's slight natural variation in the original artwork, which is part of what makes each design feel like real art rather than a mass-produced print. If colour accuracy is important to you, order a sample pack first.

How long does installation take?

Individual animals take around 2–3 minutes each once your wall is prepped. A full bundle including gum trees takes most people 20–40 minutes from start to finish. The trees are the most time-consuming piece — they're large and we recommend a second pair of hands to hold while you smooth. Smaller animals are genuinely a one-person job. Wall prep (wiping clean and letting dry) adds another 5–10 minutes. Plan for an hour including setup and you'll be done well ahead of schedule.

Why are yours more expensive than others I've seen online?

Because they're not the same product. Most cheap wall decals are printed on shiny vinyl with a white rectangle border around the design, they look like a sticker because they are one. Ours start as original hand-painted watercolour illustrations created by an Australian artist. We print on non-toxic, premium matte fabric with no white borders, so the design blends into your wall the way real art does. Every order is printed in our Melbourne warehouse, not a factory overseas. You're not paying more for the same thing. You're paying for wall art that happens to be removable.
