Decal Removal Guide
Remove Your Decals Correctly
Our decals use a removable adhesive designed to release cleanly when removed properly.
For safest results, follow the steps below carefully.
What You Need
Hairdryer on low setting
Clean hands
Two to three minutes
Heat is strongly recommended for safest removal.
How to Remove
Step 1 Lift a Corner
Gently lift one corner of the decal.
Step 2 Apply Heat
Warm the decal with a hairdryer on low for 30 to 60 seconds.
This softens the adhesive and reduces tension on the paint surface.
Step 3 Peel Downwards
Peel slowly downwards and against the wall surface.
Do not pull outward away from the wall.
Pulling outward increases stress on the paint and can cause lifting.
Move slowly and steadily.
What to Expect
When applied to properly prepared, well primed and fully cured walls, our decals are designed to remove cleanly without residue.
If paint is not strongly bonded to the wall underneath, lifting may occur during removal.
Wall condition, paint quality and preparation vary between homes. Outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Preparing Your Walls
Paint lifting is typically caused by unprimed paint, single coat applications, old or deteriorated paint, low VOC or stain resistant paints, fresh paint that has not cured for at least four weeks, or previously damaged or textured surfaces.
In rental properties especially, paint can age and weaken over time. Even well applied paint can deteriorate as it gets older. Weak paint bonding is often only discovered at the point of removal.
Tips for Success
Test a small corner before full application.
Wait four weeks before applying decals to freshly painted walls.
Always use heat before removal.
Peel downwards and against the wall.
Avoid repeated repositioning before final removal.
