Decal Install instructions
Before You Start: Set Your Walls Up for Success
Great results start with the right prep! Make sure your walls are clean, dry, and in good condition.
Paint quality matters.
For best results, walls should be sealed with primer and finished with two coats of good-quality paint. Decals adhere best to smooth, well-prepared surfaces.
Freshly painted?
Wait at least 4 weeks before applying decals. This allows the paint to fully cure and “outgas,” which helps prevent bubbling, peeling, or decals falling off.
Worried about removal?
Our decals are designed to be removable. Gentle heat (like a hairdryer) softens the adhesive and makes removal easier, especially on delicate paint. See our Removal Guide for tips.
Prep steps:
- Wash your hands
- Wipe the wall with a damp microfiber cloth to remove dust
- Let the wall dry completely
Apply your decals:
Unroll the sheet, peel carefully, and place the decal where you’d like. Smooth with your hands — if it folds on itself, gently separate it. Use a felt squeegee or microfiber-wrapped card to press from top to bottom, smoothing out air bubbles. Apply firm, even pressure — the adhesive is pressure-activated.
For large decals:
Overlap pieces by ~1cm and align patterns carefully. Rotate slightly if needed for a clean match. Take your time for a seamless look.
Repositioning?
Absolutely! Our decals are designed to be adjusted. Just clean your hands and surface again before reapplying.
Decal features:
They’re opaque, work beautifully on coloured walls, and are great for layering designs.
Storage tip:
Save the original backing paper if you plan to move or store your decals later.
Safety note:
Always ensure decals are firmly applied, especially near beds or sleeping areas. Regularly inspect decals to ensure they remain securely attached. If a decal starts to lift or peel for any reason, remove it immediately.
Disclaimer:
While our decals are designed to be removable, we cannot guarantee damage-free removal in all situations. Minor cosmetic paint damage or touch-ups may be required depending on surface quality, paint type, and how decals are removed. Always follow our application and removal instructions for best results.
